And I was wrong! My clinical trial nurse called me the other day to tell me what I have been officially taking these past couple of years. I've been on the lower dose of Fingolimod (FTY720) 0.5mg! I was wrong! I thought with my heart rate drop last year after re-dosing that I had to be on the higher dose of 1.25mg! I pretty much figured I wasen't on the Avonex as I didn't get any injection reactions or typical side effects. So, I really did inject myself with saline IM for one year in the name of science! hahah. That makes me laugh :)
So, all patients are being moved to the lower dose and I don't have to do anything, just keep taking the pill. It sounded like they are looking at FDA approvals next year perhaps, but I'll be able to stay on the trial until Novartis says no more. Very cool. I've enjoyed the great care I've had from all my nurses at UBC and all the doctors I see are great.
